How to Make a Health Insurance Claim
Health insurance claims
No one plans an accident or disability. No one even wants to think about it. And when something unfortunate happens, RBC Insurance understands that dealing with the aftermath is stressful enough.
What to do if you have a claim for disability, critical illness or long term care insurance
We know that dealing with a disability or the diagnosis of a critical illness is difficult. That's why we try to make the process as easy as possible. In case of a disability, critical illness or the need for long term care, RBC Insurance will work with you to make sure that your claim is completed quickly and efficiently.
What you need in order to make a claim depends on the type of coverage that you've purchased. In the case of disability insurance, it will also vary depending on whether your disability is total, partial or residual. Or whether you will be away from work on short or long term disability. When you call RBC Insurance, we will guide you to help you identify the documentation that is required.
In general:
- You will have to complete a form and return it to us. If you don't have the form, don't worry, RBC Insurance will send you one upon your request. Your physician will have to complete the relevant section of this form.
- In the case of disability insurance, a form may have to be completed by your employer regarding your earnings and occupational duties.
- It is possible that more information will be required, such as details regarding your education, training and experience, financial information or further medical documentation. RBC Insurance will advise you as to what additional information is required.
- You will have to submit your claim within a certain period of time. This timeframe varies by product and will be outlined in your policy.
If you have your insurance policy or policy number handy when you call, it will make it easier to provide assistance. But if you don't have it, don't worry, RBC Insurance will still be able to assist you in your time of need.
