Hospital Insurance

The cost of hospitalization and recovery can be high—we can help make sure you're covered.

When you're in the hospital, the costs can add up fast. What's more, government and employer-sponsored health plans may pay for only some of the costs associated with being hospitalized—and less (if any) of your recovery costs afterward. Our affordable hospital insurance plans can help fill the gap with a tax-free benefit you can use any way you wish.

Why do you need hospital insurance?

An illness or injury can strike anyone. In fact, in 2007 alone, nearly 6,000 Canadians were hospitalized per day. And, the average stay was 7.1 days.(1)

If you are hospitalized because of an accident or illness, your government or employer-sponsored health plan will likely cover just a portion of the costs, which can include:

  • Hospital expenses such as a private or semi-private room, TV rentals, parking, phone calls and transportation to and from the hospital
  • Recovery costs such as in-home care, special household needs and transportation to and from your doctor or specialists
  • Personal expenses such as daycare for your children or paying someone to clean your home
  • Loss of income from not working

With one of our affordable hospital insurance plans—Royal RecoverAssist® Basic Coverage or Enhanced Coverage—you’ll receive tax-free money that can help you cover the costs associated with your hospitalization, recovery and more.
