Back to Protect Your Family with Insurance
If you own a car, you know you need to have auto insurance. What you may not realize is how important it is to purchase more than the minimum in third-party liability insurance.
This insurance covers you if your vehicle injures someone or damages their property and you are held legally liable. While every province requires a minimum amount of liability coverage, this amount is unlikely to be enough if the courts order you to pay a substantial amount of money in damages. To help avoid this potentially devastating effect on your family's finances, it's wise to purchase additional liability coverage.
It's also recommended that you purchase coverage for your vehicle in the event of collision, fire, theft, vandalism or other situations.
Tip: Replace your child's car seat if you are ever in an accident. Ask your insurer if they will provide a new one.
