What Is Life Insurance?

Life insurance is a contract between the policyowner and the insurance company that will pay a specified amount (death benefit) to the beneficiary named in the contract, upon the death of the insured.

Why Do I Need Life Insurance?

Life insurance can replace your income and provide financial security for family members dealing with sadness and loss. The proceeds from the policy can cover obligations such as funeral costs and final medical expenses. Life insurance can provide the funds to pay college expenses for dependents, reduce debt or provide a supplemental income for your spouse.

If you are debt-free with no dependents, a policy provided through your workplace may fit perfectly for you. If you are married, have a mortgage, children or substantial debt, a workplace policy may not stand alone to cover all your family's needs. You can, however, give your family more financial security by purchasing additional life insurance.

RBC Insurance offers a wide variety of insurance options to meet your changing needs. Determining what kind or how much life insurance to purchase is not always easy, but we can help. The amount of life insurance coverage you purchase should be based on your needs.
