Kartik Sakthivel, PhD, serves as the Vice President and global Chief Information Officer for LIMRA LOMA and LL Global, a non-profit worldwide trade association for the financial services industry. Kartik has had a vast amount of leadership and management experience across multiple industries. He has held leadership roles in companies of all sizes, ranging from small and midsize firms to Fortune 100 organizations.
A technology practitioner, Kartik has been urging industries and workers within the industries to adopt and adapt to the massive digital disruption that is the hallmark of the early 21st century. He delivered a TED Talk at TEDx Portsmouth in Portsmouth, New Hampshire in September of 2019, advocating for individuals to embrace technology to thrive in their professions. He returned to the TED stage in May of 2024, hosting a panel on how AI is transforming society today. His third TED Talk will be upcoming at TEDx Hartford in December of 2024. Additionally, believing that encouraging industries and people to continually invent and reinvent themselves is an act of consummate leadership, Kartik is on a mission to impress upon leaders how crucial they are to the success of their organizations and their people. With an immutable belief that leadership is not about a title, but how you serve your teams, Kartik has been coaching and mentoring new leaders on how they can start the process of leaving their leadership legacy. Kartik has published three books. “Find Your Red Cape” is a book about leadership and provides a framework for leaders to discover their “leadership superpowers”. “Digital Planet, Human Inhabitants” is an extended version of his TED Talk and provides individuals with the guidance and advice they need to demonstrate success in the Digital Age. “DNAI”, released in March of 2024, at over 550 pages is a business-friendly primer and how-to guide for organizations, leaders, and individuals to find success with their AI strategies in this “Age of AI.”
Kartik holds a PhD in Computer and Information Science (with a focus on Information Quality and a dissertation on best practices for AI) and a Graduate Certificate in Information Quality from University of Arkansas at Little Rock, a Master’s degree in Computer Information Systems/IT, and a Master of Business Administration degree from Southern New Hampshire University. He has been twice nominated as a Finalist for New England CIO of the Year in 2022 and 2024.

Adam attended Stanford University where he completed a degree in Geotechnical Engineering and Hydrology. He used this expertise to co-found (and subsequently Chair the Board for) Ergo Eco Solutions, a Social Enterprise focusing on production and distribution of petroleum-replacing, sustainable eco-products upcycled from its Waste Cooking Oil (WCO) operations.
In 2013, Adam was part of the first-ever expedition to attempt to row unsupported across the Atlantic Ocean from Africa to America. After 73 days alone at sea, he survived a capsize in the Bermuda Triangle. The event was subject of the NBC Dateline Documentary, Capsized.
He’s transitioned to a post-Olympic career coaching executives on how to clarify values and strategy, develop high-performing teams, manage change and maximize leadership capacity. His infectious energy, authenticity and breadth of life experience allow him to connect effectively with audiences across sectors. Adam’s clients include leadership teams from the Aerospace, Healthcare, Nutrition and Clean Energy sectors.
Adam is also a journalist with CBC Sports, writing on topics of health for peak performance. He is a champion for the Canadian Men’s Health Foundation where he shares insights to better personal, family and community health.
Adam is an active volunteer with Power To Be, bettering the lives of disadvantaged and disabled youth through cutting-edge outdoor adventure programming. Our individual and group brokerage channels deliver best-in-class advice in the third party marketplace through the distribution of individual living benefits, life insurance, wealth solutions and group benefit plans. Our national creditor distribution team supports our RBC mortgage specialists, banking advisors and leaders across Canada with licensed creditor insurance products, delivering on the RBC promise while driving profitable growth and increased market share.
Adam has extensive sales and leadership experience. He has led very successful high-performance sales teams and has provided strategic and tactical leadership in the recruitment of high-quality talent. Prior to joining RBC in 2017, he spent over nine years with a large Canadian insurance company as a Senior Associate Partner.
Adam holds a Master’s in Business, Entrepreneurship & Technology (MBET) from the University of Waterloo and an Honours Bachelor of Business Administration (HBBA) from Wilfrid Laurier University School of Business & Economics. He also holds his Certified Financial Planning Designation (CFP) and several licenses and designations including IFIC licence/CSC Accreditation, LSIF, Branch Managers Designation, Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU), and LLQP.
A first generation Canadian, Adam’s family immigrated to Canada from East Africa in the early 1970s. Adam strongly believes in giving back to the community and has a passion for international development. Adam served as a City of Toronto Board Member for low-income community centres managing governance and finance and is a member of the Ascend Leadership Team where he hosts various presentations for Pan Asian leaders across the country. Adam is also Vice Chair for the non-profit organization, First Book Canada, transforming the lives of children in need by providing equal access to quality education and opportunities in school and life.

Dennis entered the insurance business in 1979. Since that time he has held a number of senior management positions with both domestic and foreign insurance companies and has worked with career, brokerage, and direct distribution systems. His experience has included marketing, underwriting/new business, operations, and distribution management.
Dennis joined a subsidiary of RBC Insurance, and has held several senior positions. In his current role with RBC Insurance he is responsible for the MGA, National Account, and Intercorporate relationships in the brokerage channel.
Dennis has participated in a number of industry associations’ committees’ including serving on the Board of the Canadian Reinsurance Conference (CRC) and the CLIEDIS (Canadian Life Insurance EDI Standards Association) board for 14 years, including two terms as co-chair.
He has also sat on numerous CLHIA (Canadian Life & Health Insurance Industry Association) sections over the years and is currently the Chair of the CLHIA FTC (Fair Treatment of Customer) Committee. In addition, he is a member of the FRSA (Financial Services Regulatory Authority of Ontario) Advisory Committee and sits on the APEXA Strategic Advisory Committee.

As Senior Vice President, Individual & Group, Products and Pricing, Maria Winslow leads the strategic direction and execution of RBC Insurance’s product and pricing portfolio. She is responsible for the overall product strategy, ensuring alignment with both client needs and overall business objectives.
Maria oversees the full product lifecycle, from vision development to delivery and management. She guides her team to create solutions that are adaptable to market needs, fosters cross-collaboration to ensure alignment on goals, and prioritizes innovation based on customer feedback and market insights.
With over 25 years of insurance industry experience across product management, creditor, sales, operations, marketing and actuarial roles, Maria uses a holistic view to find synergies across the organization to create efficiencies, increase accountability and accelerate decision making to drive our business forward. She was the driving force behind creating a new participating whole life product suite and simplified life and disability portfolio for RBC Insurance, which took an innovative approach to designing insurance products with the end consumer in mind.
Recognized for her ability to drive efficiencies and differentiated service across teams, Maria inspires her colleagues to embrace an empowering, customer-focused mindset. In her previous role, she led a team to significantly reduce the average cycle time by as much as 50% for new business, underwriting, contracting, compensation and client services.
In addition to leading a high-performing team, Maria also plays a critical role in RBC’s culture where she is the Executive Sponsor to the Insurance Diversity and Inclusion Leadership Council. She is also an Executive Sponsor for the Stronger Together Employee Resource Group which empowers women across the organization.
Maria holds a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Concordia University and enjoys yoga, pottery, and spending time with her family.

There is no cost to register for the event. You will be required to pay for your hotel accommodations and travel to Caesars Republic in Scottsdale. Once onsite, all meals and organized activities are covered from November 5 – 7.
The invitation to attend is only for you, guests/spouses are not allowed to attend any part of the event, including meals.
All meals are included from dinner on Wednesday, November 5 to lunch on Friday, November 7.
Self-parking is $28 per night and valet is $40 per night, with in-and-out privileges 24 hours a day. The parking garage is located right next door to the hotel.

Yes, the group room rate of $359.00 USD (plus Destination Fee of $22.50 USD) has been extended for 3 days before and 3 days after.
