What to Expect When You Get an Online Quote
So you know what to expect when you request your auto insurance quote—and to help you move through the process faster—we've answered some of the most common questions about requesting an online quote:
Q. Who is eligible to submit a quote?
A. Any resident of Canada (except residents of British Columbia, Manitoba and Saskatchewan†) who is a licensed driver may submit an auto insurance quote request to RBC Insurance.
If more than one driver will be on the policy, we recommend that the registered owner of the vehicle(s) or the intended policyholder request the quote.
Q. How much time will it take me to submit my quote request?
A. This depends on several factors, including how many drivers and vehicles you are including in your quote. We will ask questions specific to you and your vehicles, so you can submit your request as quickly as possible.
Q. How does RBC Insurance approach security and privacy?
A. Your security and privacy are extremely important to us. You can visit the following links to view our policies and the steps we take to ensure the security and privacy of our customers:
Q. What kinds of questions will I be asked?
A. To give you an accurate quote—and ensure we offer you the right coverage and discounts—we will ask you to provide:
- Personal information (such as name, gender and date of birth) for yourself and other drivers you want to include in your quote
- Driving history and licence information for yourself and any other drivers
- Details about the vehicles you want to insure and how these vehicles will be used
Q. How precise do I have to be when I estimate vehicle value or kilometres?
A. While we'd like you to be as precise as possible, we also understand that exact numbers can be hard to pin down. Give your "best guess"—you can confirm this information after your quote and call us if the information is significantly different from the estimate you provided. If you save your quote, you can also come back and change the information online.
Q. I don't remember the date of a moving violation, accident or claim. What do I do?
A. It's okay if you don't remember the exact month and year of a moving violation, accident or claim involving you or another driver you wish to include in your quote. Just give us an approximate date. You can call us with the correct date after you receive your quote. If you save your quote, you can also come back and change the information online.
Q. What can I do after I get my quote?
A. After reviewing your quote, you can:
- Change your coverage options and update your quote
- Call an insurance advisor to discuss your coverage or discounts
- Purchase your policy, or save your quote—we'll guarantee it for 60 days
Q. Does RBC Insurance guarantee my quote?
A. Yes. We guarantee your quote for 60 days after you submit your request, provided that the information you have given is accurate and has not changed when you buy your policy.
Tip: Save your quote so you can come back later to review your quote, make changes or buy your policy online††.
