Single trip and multi-trip annual plan options1

Several of our packages and travel medical insurance plans give you the option of either single trip or multi-trip annual plan coverage. Here are some considerations to help you choose:

  • Single trip coverage is ideal if you plan to travel outside your home province or territory only once in the next year. It covers you for one trip.
  • Multi-trip annual plan coverage can save you money if you plan to travel outside your home province or territory two or more times in the next year. It covers you for an unlimited number of trips (of a certain duration) for 365 consecutive days.
  • Up to 183 days for the Deluxe Package, Classic Medical Plan and TravelCare Medical Plan
  • Up to 60 days for the TravelCare Package

With a multi-trip annual plan, you get to choose from several trip duration options. Depending on the package or plan (and in some cases, your age), you can choose from a 4-, 9-, 16-, 30- or 60-day trip.2

For example, if you typically go away for 3-4 days at a time, you may want to go with a 4-day trip duration. However, if most of your trips in the next year will be 7-9 days long, you may want to choose a 9-day trip duration.

In some cases, you may be able to “top-up” coverage for an individual trip if it will be longer than the maximum duration you selected. (When you “top-up” your coverage, you add to your insurance beyond the duration originally chosen.)3
